Tap & Tell is a product operated by HeckWerks LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our website, services, and NFC-enabled products (collectively, the "Service").

By using Tap & Tell, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or use the Service, we may collect information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Company name
  • Profile image
  • Social media links and custom links you choose to associate with your profile

You control what information is added to your account and what information is made public.

1.2 Public Profile Information

Tap & Tell allows users to create public profile pages that are accessible via NFC tap or direct URL.

Public profile information may include, only if you choose to publish it:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Company
  • Profile photo
  • Social media links
  • Custom links

Public profiles are disabled by default and are only published once you explicitly enable them.

Each public profile is accessed via a randomized, unguessable URL associated with a physical NFC card or QR code.

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

We collect limited technical data for security, analytics, and operational purposes, including:

  • IP address
  • Device and browser information
  • Access timestamps
  • Page views and interaction data

This data is used strictly for service operation, analytics, and security.

2. Analytics and Tracking

We use privacy-focused analytics providers, including:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics
  • Plausible or Simple Analytics

These tools help us understand usage patterns and improve the Service. They are selected to minimize personal data collection.

For users with eligible subscriptions, public profile page view counts may be displayed in the dashboard and are visible only to the account owner.

3. Cookies

We use cookies primarily on the storefront portion of the website for essential functionality such as sessions and purchases.

We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

4. Accounts and Authentication

Users may create accounts using:

  • Email and password
  • Third-party login providers such as Google or Apple

Authentication data is handled securely. Passwords are never stored in plain text.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

Payments are processed exclusively through Stripe.

We do not store or process credit card numbers. All payment information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with their privacy and security practices.

Tap & Tell offers subscription-based services, including analytics and dashboard features.

6. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service
  • Display user-controlled public profiles
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Provide analytics and usage insights
  • Improve performance, reliability, and security
  • Communicate with users regarding support or account-related matters

We do not use your data for advertising or marketing to third parties.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the Service, including:

  • Stripe (payments)
  • Cloudflare (infrastructure and analytics)
  • AWS (hosting and backend services)
  • Resend (email delivery)

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process.

8. Data Retention

Account and profile data is retained while your account is active.

When an account is deleted, associated public pages are removed promptly.

Security and access logs are retained for approximately 30 days and then automatically deleted.

9. Account Deletion

At this time, account deletion requests must be submitted via email to:

rob@tap-tell.com

Self-service deletion is planned for a future release.

10. Children's Privacy

Tap & Tell is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take data protection seriously and design the Service with privacy in mind.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
